What time is check-in and check-out?

Check in begins at 3:00pm. Timing is not guaranteed due to occupancy and availability of room types. Check out is 11:00am. When possible, The Richland is happy to accommodate early check-in or late check-out based on availability.

How far in advance can I book my stay, and how do I book?

We are currently booking on a rolling basis of 3 months in advance. You may check availability, pricing, and book your stay on our website here, or you may call our front desk at 714.942.6110.

What amenities are included?

  • Wireless internet access in-room and in all public spaces
  • DirectTV, including HBO and ESPN channels
  • Chapman Crafted Coffee and house-made pastries served Friday – Sunday from 8:00am – 10:00am
  • Seasonal non-alcoholic welcome cocktail and 2 water bottles included in-room
  • Luxury bath products from Cowshed provided in-room

What is your payment and cancellation policy?

A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total room charge, plus applicable taxes and fees, is due at the time of booking. Final payment is due at check-in. Cancellations are subject to forfeiture of paid deposit amount. Cancellations made within 24 hours of arrival will be charged in full, including all applicable taxes.

DO YOU PROVIDE HOUSEKEEPING SERVICES?

Housekeeping services will take place every two days during your stay, unless otherwise requested. Should you require housekeeping sooner, please contact the front desk to schedule.

Are you pet friendly?

Except for service animals, pets are not permitted on property at any time.

WHAT ARE THE PARKING OPTIONS?

Complimentary on-site overnight parking is available to hotel guests. We offer (1) overnight parking space per room, or (2) parking spaces for The Cottage. Should you require more than one parking space per room, please contact us for availability.

Parking spaces are available at 3:00pm the first day of your stay and you may remain in the designated space until check-out. Vehicles must be removed at check-out, or by 11:00am, unless otherwise approved by The Richland Management.

To see additional parking locations nearby, visit the front desk for a parking map. Public parking lots are located within a 5-minute walking distance, including a large structure on Lemon Street & Maple Avenue.

Do any hotel rooms have ADA accessibility?

Yes, The Richland offers (2) ADA King rooms (double occupancy) located on the first floor. A lift is available for access to The Living Room Bar & Lounge. There is no elevator to the second-floor accommodations in the 1906 home.

Is smoking allowed?

The Richland is committed to providing guests a smoke-free environment. Smoking, including vaping, is prohibited throughout the property and in all accommodations, including balconies, patios, and the courtyard. Additionally, burning of candles in guest rooms is not permitted.

What is the Guest Conduct Policy?

The Richland requires appropriate and respectful interactions between our guests and employees. At our discretion, The Richland reserves the right to trespass anyone exhibiting behavior that is inconsistent with The Richland’s behavior standards, including:

  • Unruly behavior, threatening or obscene gestures, fighting or violence.
  • Derogatory and threatening language about race, ethnicity, gender, religion, disability, age, sexual orientation, national origin, pregnancy, or other legal protected classifications.
  • Possession of a weapon except with The Richland’s prior knowledge and consent.
  • Stealing, damaging, or misusing any property.
  • Possession or use of illegal drugs or over-intoxication.
  • Creating excessive noise. Radios, televisions, stereos, etc. must be kept to a minimum.
  • Conducting activities that interfere with the use and enjoyment of The Richland for guests.
  • Storing illegal or flammable materials in any accommodation.
  • Creating unsightly conditions in or around the property. Unsightly conditions include but are not limited to: hanging of towels, clothing, equipment, etc. from balconies or patios.

Are there further hotel room policies to keep in mind?

Please refer to the complete Terms & Conditions upon booking your hotel room. Below are some friendly reminders:

  • The Richland may be booked for a private event during your stay, causing standard hotel operations and access to be altered. Certain areas of The Richland may be closed for private use. Please ask hotel staff for more information.
  • The Living Room Bar & Lounge is reserved for private event use.
  • In the main building, hotel rooms located on the 2nd floor & Attic are accessible by staircase only, as there is no elevator on-site. The Living Room Bar & Lounge is located on the1st floor, and you may enter from the front door. Guests in a wheelchair may use the ADA lift to access the 1st floor.
  • Registered guests must be 21 years old to check in.

 

Private Event FAQ

WHAT SPACES ARE INCLUDED IN THE VENUE RENTAL?

All indoor and outdoor spaces throughout the property are exclusively available to you during your event, including: The Estelle Ballroom, Porte Cochere Patio and Courtyard, The Living Room Bar & Lounge, and (1) Getting Ready Room. The Richland has the flexibility of many different types of layouts! The Estelle Ballroom can seat up to 170 guests. For weddings, this is a great space for ceremony, then flipped to reception by your 24 Carrots staff while guests enjoy cocktail hour in the Porte Cochere, Lounge, and Courtyard. If your ceremony is taking place off-site, the Estelle Ballroom will be preset and ready for your reception upon arrival. The Getting Ready Room is available starting at 10am the day of your event.

You and your event guests will have exclusive access to book any of the (12) hotel rooms for the night of your event date. Your private link is valid until 90 days before your event, then will become publicly available to book rooms.

WHAT IS A BUYOUT?

For the ultimate experience, a property buyout provides you with exclusive access to the entire property, including all hotel rooms, Courtyard, and the Living Room Bar and Lounge. A buyout is available for one weeknight only, or the weekend (Friday & Saturday night).

WHAT IS THE CAPACITY?

Our beautiful main event room, The Estelle Ballroom, seats up to 170 guests with a dance area. Events without a dance area can accommodate up to 200 guests seated. Cocktail-style receptions can accommodate up to 225 guests.

HOW MUCH TIME IS INCLUDED IN THE VENUE RENTAL?

Six (6) hours of event time are included with the venue rental from event start time to event conclusion. Events must conclude by no later than 12am on Friday & Saturday and 11pm Sunday-Thursday and all outdoor activity must conclude by 10pm every day of the week. Vendors may arrive as early as 10am and must complete strike no later than one hour after the event ends.

WHAT IS REQUIRED TO SECURE A DATE AT THE RICHLAND?

A signed catering and venue contract with 24 Carrots and 20% payment is required to secure a date (or 50% payment if the event date is within 6 months). Please note that venue date availability is on a first come, first served basis. Preliminary dates included in proposals do not guarantee date availability and will only be guaranteed upon receipt and payment. Holds are not available, and discussion of dates or receipt of a proposal does not guarantee a reservation.

ARE THERE ON-SITE ACCOMODATIONS FOR GETTING READY?

Get ready for your closeup! The Richland offers (1) Getting Ready Room to primp and prepare for your big day. The Room includes vanities, full-length mirror, mini fridge, restroom with stunning tiled shower, plenty of storage space during your event, and luxurious lounge seating.

ARE THERE OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATIONS AVAILABLE?

The Richland is a charming boutique hotel with 11 luxury guest rooms and a (1) two-bedroom cottage. Event bookings have priority access to reserve guest rooms for the night of their event at a discounted rate. WHAT ARE THE OPTIONS FOR PARKING?

There are many public parking options around Old Towne Orange that guests are welcome to park in. Please ask your venue representative for a map of specific street parking, parking structures and lots. Overnight hotel guests are permitted to park in the private lot in the (1) designated parking space per room. Vendors may load and unload from the yellow curb on Maple Street directly in front of the venue, then must park off-site.

WHAT ABOUT THE RICHLAND TROLLEY?

All Aboard! Give guests a private tour of Old Towne Orange on our adorable trolley, a one-of-a-kind transportation experience perfect for any event. Hop on at the nearby Lemon Street Parking Structure and enjoy a ride though the Historic Orange Circle, stopping at the front of The Richland. Available throughout the duration of your event, the trolley is an exciting and easy way to bring your guests to and from the venue while experiencing the charming city of Orange. The Trolley operates 30 minutes prior to, continuously throughout, and ends 30 minutes after your event.

IS THE VENUE ADA ACCESSIBLE?

Yes, the venue includes a wheelchair lift to access the lounge. The Courtyard, Ballroom, and Porte Cochere are all accessible at street level. There is one ADA compliant hotel room available. Please make sure to notify your venue and hotel representatives in advance if this accommodation is needed.

DOES THE VENUE ALLOW PETS?

Apart from service animals, pets are not permitted on property at any time.

WHEN CAN I SCHEDULE MY REHEARSAL?

A one-hour rehearsal is included in every contract and booked upon venue availability. Rehearsals are optional and take place during business hours. Rehearsals may not take place at the venue if there is another event that day and 24 Carrots is happy to recommend local options to rehearse.

CAN WE CHANGE THE GUEST COUNT AFTER BOOKING?

Yes, rest assured that your guest count can increase up to venue capacity or reduce by 10% of your signed, initial contract. For example, if you sign the 24 Carrots contract for 100 guests, your contract allows changes to as low as 90 guests. Final guest counts, final selections, and the final payment are due 10 business days prior to your event date.

WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?

All payments made to 24 Carrots are non-refundable and non-transferrable. For cancellations more than 30 days prior to your event date, all payments made will be forfeited. For cancellations within 30 days of your event date, the full contract balance will be due and forfeited. Please reference the 24 Carrots and The Richland venue contract terms and conditions for further details.

WHAT DOES 24 CARROTS PROVIDE FOR MY EVENT?

Catering and bar services, staffing, equipment, security, and dining rental items (specified below under Rentals + Décor) are exclusively provided by 24 Carrots. Clients are welcome to provide their own wedding cake and specialty desserts. 24 Carrots will cut and serve your wedding cake complimentary.

An outside caterer may be permitted by request and approval only to provide traditional, cultural, or ethnic cuisine, should 24 Carrots be unable to produce the requested menu in-house. 24 Carrots will continue to provide all bar services, staffing, and rental equipment. Please contact us for more information and requirements for an outside caterer.

WHAT OUTSIDE VENDORS MAY I HIRE DIRECTLY?

You are welcome to bring in your own vendors for wedding coordination, photography, videography, florals, officiant, entertainment, photo booth, select specialty rentals, signage, decorations, wedding cake, and specialty desserts. Please note the only exclusive on-site vendors are 24 Carrots Catering and Honored Occasions for audio/DJ/AV needs. Every vendor must provide proof of insurance as required in the Venue Rental Contract.

IS INSURANCE REQUIRED FOR MY VENDORS?

General Liability insurance listing 24 Carrots as additionally insured is required for each of your vendors that will be on-site during your event. This includes but is not limited to coordinator, florist, photographers, videographers, photo booth, bakery, hair and makeup artists, and officiant. If vendors have employees working at the event, a certificate of insurance for Workman’s Compensation must also be provided. WHEN CAN MY OUTSIDE VENDORS SET UP?

Vendor load-in and event setup may begin as early as 10am on the day of your event. Vendors may load and unload from the yellow curb on Maple Street directly in front of the venue, then must park off-site. Linens are managed by 24 Carrots staff and will be placed on tables 2 hours prior to the event start time.

WHO IS THE EXCLUSIVE DJ?

Honored Occasions is the exclusive provider of DJ and A/V equipment at The Richland, to ensure we comply with city noise ordinances due to the proximity of our residential neighbors. Honored Occasions provides comprehensive DJ, lighting, and photobooth options and packages. Please contact Honored Occasions to book their services directly for your event and please note contracts must be signed within 60 days of confirming your event at The Richland (or 30 dates if event date is withing 6 months). Be sure to have your date, hours of the event and guest count ready to receive accurate pricing. Honored Occasions may be reached phone at 714-671-1115 or email info@honoredoccasions.com.

Live bands are permitted and Honored Occasions still must provide any additional music, speaker, or MC services.

DO YOU HAVE A NOISE ORDINANCE?

Yes, our indoor curfew for events is 12am on Friday & Saturday and 11pm Sunday-Thursday. We kindly ask that all guests and vendors be off property within 1 hour of your event end time. All outdoor activities must end at 10pm every day of the week.

IS A WEDDING COORDINATOR REQUIRED?

Yes, a wedding coordinator is required as they will be the primary point of contact leading up to and on the day of your event for the venue, 24 Carrots team, and all vendors. 24 Carrots is happy to provide a list of recommended wedding coordinators based on your specific needs and budget. A coordinator must be booked at least 60 days prior to the client’s wedding day. Additional details regarding coordinator requirements, such as insurance, can be found in your contract.

CAN WE TASTE OUR MENU / DO YOU OFFER PRIVATE TASTINGS?

Yes! Tastings are one of our favorite parts of the planning process. Private tastings are hosted at the 24 Carrots corporate offices in Costa Mesa and are recommended 4-6 months prior to your event date. Tastings are complimentary after booking and signing your venue and catering contracts. Otherwise, a $95/person + tax fee applies before booking and signing but will be credited towards your initial deposit upon booking. Additional guests will be charged a non-refundable fee of $95/person + tax.

MAY I BRING IN MY OWN ALCOHOL OR BAR SERVICES?

Bar services and all alcohol are exclusively provided and served by 24 Carrots. Outside alcohol is not permitted at any time. For getting ready beverage options, please reach out to your venue representative.

WHAT RENTAL ITEMS ARE INCLUDED WITH THE VENUE?

The venue rental includes the use of the Piaggio Cart for displays, “Mr. Maple” The Trolley for guest transportation to and from the parking structure, (180) Bentwood Fruitwood Chairs, (20) 60” Round Tables, (4) 30” Round High Cocktail Tables, (4) 36” Round Low Cocktail Tables, (1) Half Round Sweetheart Table, (1) 48” Round Cake Table, (5) 6’ x 30” Rectangular Tables, (5) 8’ x 30” Rectangular Tables, and (2) 6’ Wood Bar Fronts. Additional tables, chairs, and comprehensive event rentals including additional lighting and décor are available through 24 Carrots Catering & Events.

WHAT RENTAL & DÉCOR ITEMS MUST BE PROVIDED THROUGH 24 CARROTS?

All additional rentals including tables, linens/napkins, chairs, tableware, bar service rentals, lounge furniture, dance floor, lighting, etc. must be provided by 24 Carrots through our exclusive rental & lighting partners. For upgraded rental options and pricing, please speak with your venue representative.

WHAT RENTAL & DÉCOR ITEMS MAY I BRING IN?

You are welcome to bring in your own flowers, decorations, select specialty rentals, and signage. We do not allow for any permanent changes to the property structures including staples, tape, nails, screws, or other materials that could leave marks. You may use zip ties, twine, or fishing wire to hang any décor and your vendors must bring their own set-up equipment and ladders. Please contact your venue representative if additional accommodation is needed.

ARE THERE ANY ITEMS THAT ARE PROHIBITED ON THE PROPERTY?

We strive to create and maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all guests so confetti, glitter, silly string, fireworks, sparklers of any kind, cold sparkler machines, and fog machines are not permitted at any time.

ARE CANDLES PERMITTED AT THE VENUE?

Yes, candles are permitted and must be enclosed in glass votives or hurricanes with at least 1” from the top of the flame to the top of the candle holder. Exposed open flames are not permitted. Clients are responsible for any damage to linens and/or tables due to wax. Candles and open flames are not permitted in guest rooms.

IS A DANCE FLOOR REQUIRED?

No, dance floor rentals are optional. Please speak with your venue representative for dance floor rental option through 24 Carrots’ exclusive rental partner.
